Certifications
The UESCA Ultrarunning Coach Certification is an evidence-based program developed alongside expert ultrarunning coach, Jason Koop. Designed to equip coaches with the science and art of endurance coaching, the course covers foundational topics such as human anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and energy systems.
It dives deep into ultra-specific demands, including environmental adaptations, aid station strategies, gear selection, pacing, and psychological resilience. Coaches also learn program design, injury prevention, and nutrition tailored for extreme distances. After passing a comprehensive exam, it provides the tools needed to effectively train trail and ultrarunning athletes of all skill levels.
Specializations

Developed to optimize endurance coaching, the course covers ovarian hormone patterns, menstrual cycle phases, and hormonal fluctuations across a woman's lifespan. Coaches learn to tailor training, nutrition, and recovery strategies specifically to female-specific biology for improved athletic performance.
The UESCA Coaching the Pregnant and Postpartum Endurance Athlete Specialization equips coaches to safely guide female athletes through pregnancy and postpartum recovery. The curriculum covers physiological changes, anatomical considerations, pelvic floor health, and trimester-specific training modifications. Coaches learn evidence-based strategies to adjust exercise, manage symptoms, and support a safe return to running.
